870 Spotec workers get jobs at new adidas supplier
Some good news from Indonesia. Adidas have informed us that 870 ex-Spotec workers have been hired into their Ching Luh (CLI) supplier factory. Your continued support for these workers - campaigning and letter writing – has been very important in keeping the pressure on adidas.
The employment of these workers represent a small step forward in the campaign for jobs for the 4,500 Spotec and 6,000 Dong Joe workers who were left without work in December 2006. Many workers from both these factories are still without jobs and without their full, outstanding entitlements since the adidas suppliers closed down. We urge you to continue your successful campaigning for these workers’ rights.

Child labour in UK retailer Primark
The BBC's Panorama and The Observer has uncovered children labouring in Indian refugee camps making garments for the huge UK fashion store Primark. The investigation found children as young as 11 sewing T-shirts for Primark.
The Guardian has reported that Primark will eclipse Marks & Spencer as Britain's biggest mass-market fashion retailer by 2009, taking £1 of every £10 spent on clothing in the UK.
Globally, between 210 and 240 million children are child labourers.
